Digital Graphic Novel and Game
Challenge: RedRover, a US-based charity for rescuing dogs and cats from natural disasters, wished to create a new property for children age 7-11 that taught them empathy for animals while also being cool and fun. They had never made any content for kids before, but were keen to jump in. They required a team that would find the talent they needed and deliver an experience kids in their target market would love.
Solution: Sticky Brain prepared an overview of the children’s market, identifying different media and best practices for content development. RedRover had previously created a reader program for schools using off the shelf books, so we teamed up to make a graphic novel and game to be delivered via mobile app in English and Spanish, available for Android and iOS. We connected the RedRover team with a terrific writer, and Sticky Brain created our first digital graphic novel!
Result: We’ve released 3 books in the series. The original app was supported via Kickstarter, was the 11th highest book in the US App Store on launch, has received a number of positive reviews on educator sites and was featured on Good Day, Sacramento: http://gooddaysacramento.cbslocal.com/video/3404727-animal-empathy-app/.
Book 1 was nominated as a finalist for the 2017 Kidscreen Awards in the Best Ebook category! Try them all!
